Working with Rape and Sexual Violence
This unique CPD training course has been developed from over twenty years of dedicated, clinically supervised practice. Years of day to day working with thousands of clients who have been sexually violated and then endured further secondary psychological injury, by not being believed, being judged or by treated unkindly. Negative responses that continue to keep the client in a state of fear and helplessness, are a major source of complex mental health issues in this country. They need to be addressed and the power rebalanced. This is happening, especially with the new RASSO (Rape and Serious Sexual Offences) 2021 - 2025 Action Plan. This is a joint strategy with Police and Crown Prosecution Services, aimed at overhauling and enhancing the way in which, the crime of rape is dealt with.
When someone presents at a therapy or support work session, disclosing that they have been raped or sexually violated, whether they were an adult or a child at the time of the offence. It can be like being passed a box containing a fragile glass ball. They are telling you about their experience because they trust you to hold the fragility of that glass ball with every ounce of care, understanding and kindness that you can muster. Whatever you do, you must be careful not to break that glass, shattering what self-worth and courage the client has bravely managed to hang on to until this point.
Thoughtfully illustrated and packed with genuine lived experiences of those who want to share their story for educational purposes, whilst assisting their own release.
Self – Care Management for Online Trauma Training & Learning
We only have so much time in the day. Some of the content in all of our CPD online trauma training courses can be heavy going, especially the case history content. It can be easy to become overwhelmed, which is why we have prepared this brief document.
In order to manage your time, you can plan and organise the learning activities that you intend to complete. For some learners, they may already have the information that is contained within the course, but need to refresh that knowledge, others they may like to take their time, absorbing new information and processing that learning.
Finding your own way to manage your learning time can be extremely beneficial. There are no deadlines for our courses, once you have purchased the chosen course, you have all the time you need to complete it. The content is reading, understanding and completing a series of multiple choice questions after each module. Once accomplished, if you have achieved a 75% pass, you can automatically download your Certificate of Achievement, which is accredited by the CPD Standards Office. You will also receive a further Official CPD Certificate by Royal Mail from the Awarding Body.
Seven bullet points that may help…
1. Keep a schedule or to-do-list – set your own deadlines.
2. Prioritise and focus on your highest objective within your list.
